Nestled in the gentle Danube landscape of Upper Austria lies Engelszell Abbey – Austria’s only former Trappist monastery. Here, centuries-old monastic tradition, Baroque architecture and a refined culture of indulgence come together in a very special way.
The magnificent Rococo abbey church forms the heart of the complex and impresses with its lightness and elegance – a place of tranquillity and contemplation. At the same time, traditional craftsmanship is still practised at the abbey today: beer and liqueurs are produced here with great care and according to time-honoured recipes.
Anyone who appreciates monastery breweries like those in New England or small craft breweries in Quebec will love the special atmosphere of this place – where spirituality and indulgence come together in an authentic way.
Programme:
Upon arrival at Engelszell Abbey, you will be welcomed by your guide and immersed in the history and life of the monastery during a guided tour.
