Cycle along one of the most famous river cycle paths in Europe — the Upper Austrian Danube Cycle Path. This stage takes you from Aschach to Schlögen, past picturesque riverside landscapes, castles steeped in history and dense alluvial forests.
In the small market town of Aschach on the Danube, you will first immerse yourself in centuries of European architectural history: Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque facades characterise the townscape and remind you that this place has long been an important trading point on the great river.
On the well-developed, flat cycle path you follow the Danube upstream to the famous Schlögener Schlinge - one of the most spectacular double meanders in Europe. If you want, you can climb the Schlögener Blick viewpoint on foot and enjoy a similarly majestic view as on the major river bends in North America, such as the Mississippi River or Horseshoe Bend.
