The Mauthausen Memorial is a place of remembrance, silence and reflection. It symbolises a dark chapter in European history and invites visitors to engage with the past – with dignity, respect and awareness.
As one of Austria’s most significant memorial sites, Mauthausen commemorates the era of National Socialism and the people who suffered here. At the same time, this place stands today as an important symbol of responsibility, humanity and the shared commitment to ensuring that history is not forgotten.
Many visitors from North America are familiar with similar memorial sites, such as the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum or the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. In Mauthausen, too, conscious remembrance is central – serving as a bridge between the past and the present.
Programme:
Joint coach trip with a guide to the Mauthausen Concentration Camp Memorial. During a guided tour, you will gain a sensitive insight into the history of the site and its significance in the context of the 20th century. The tour takes you through key areas of the memorial and provides space for information, reflection and quiet moments of remembrance.
