Route description

Danube path Passau-Linz

1st day: Arrival in Passau
Check in and handing over the travel documents. Enjoy the wonderful old town of Passau.

2nd day: Passau – Engelhartszell
Hiking distance approx. 16 km, climb and descent approx. 700 high altitude each

Enjoy the short boat trip to Kasten. Afterwards, you will start with the Danube path “Donausteig” and handle the first part to Engelhartszell. The monastery Engelszell is the only “Trappastine Monastery” in Austria und well-known for the beautiful Rococo church.

3rd day: Engelhartszell – Wesenufer
Hiking distance approx. 10 km, climb- and descent approx. 170 high altitude each

Parallel to the Danube you will follow the path to Wesenufer. If the sun is too hot, you will have the possibility to cool your legs in the blue Danube.

4th day: Wesenufer – Schlögen
Hiking distance approx. 16 km, climb and descent approx. 800 high altitude each

Today you will pass the nature protection area Kösselbachtal. The “four fourth” view provide on sunny days a wonderful view over the “Traun-, Inn-, Mühl- and Hausruck fourth”.

5th day: Schlögen – Aschach
Hiking distance approx. 19 km, climb approx. 580 high altitude, descent approx. 600 high altitude

Today you will enjoy the view over the “Schlögener Schlinge”. Take time and climb up the “Schlögener View”. You will be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama.

6th day: Aschach – Eferding - Linz
Hiking distance approx. 17 km, climb approx. 200 high altitude, descent approx. 190 high altitude (17 km train ride)

Fortress Schaunburg, the largest fortress of Upper Austria is the highlight of today’s tour and at the chapel Landerlkapelle enjoy the magnificent view. Train ride from Eferding to Linz.

7th day: Individual departure or extra nights
